In Indonesia’s Special Region of Yogyakarta, Malioboro is a name that is already etched in the mind of every traveler who visits the province. This is the city center area that is abundant with culture, shopping, cuisine, and the charm of the city of Yogyakarta. Nights at Malioboro showcase a bustling street complete with its dazzling streetlights, busy street vendors, and art performances. Food vendors serving eccentric cuisines, such as gudeg, oseng mercon, tiwul, sate klatak, and many more, often bring back people to Malioboro. Other than that, traditional art and music show decorates the night in the street. Locals and visitors can enjoy walking while listening to gamelan instrumentals and watching wayang kulit showcases. As a shopping center, it provides a treasure trove of Yogyakarta arts and crafts. The street of Malioboro is full of handicrafts, traditional textiles, and unique ceramic arts. Thus, it is a perfect place to look for souvenirs and gifts. Not to mention, food specialties from Yogyakarta are famous to give as presents to close relatives or friends. For example, food such as gudeg—the throne for Yogyakarta’s number one food—and bakpia are essential gifts. Therefore, Malioboro is wonderful to visit for its region's unique heritage and charm.
